Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary Inquests, Inquiries and Representation
  • Principal location – Parramatta – Flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
  • Employment type – Ongoing position – Part time (4 days a week; 28 hours per week)
  • Salary – Clerk Grade 1/2, Base Salary ($75,728 – $82,329), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role
This role supports the Legal Branch within the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) by delivering vital administrative and secretarial services. It’s a great opportunity to contribute to legal processes, engage with diverse stakeholders, and grow within a collaborative legal team.
What you’ll do
As part of the Inquests, Inquiries and Representation team, you will provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to legal professionals and clients, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
You’ll manage file records, handle correspondence, coordinate meetings, and assist with non-complex legal matters.
You will also:
  • Act as a first point of contact for enquiries, providing timely information or referring matters appropriately
  • Prepare legal and general correspondence, documents and reports using accurate formatting and attention to detail
  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical filing systems in line with organisational policies
  • Support internal meetings and external events, including preparation of agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions
  • Assist with financial processing tasks, such as invoice tracking and expense reconciliation
  • Contribute to team projects and support research or information-gathering activities as required
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external agencies professionally and with discretion
  • Support the team in meeting deadlines and maintaining quality assurance standards
  • Work as part of a supportive and professional team that values discretion, accuracy, and collaboration.
